What should I wear for a Trail Ride or Riding Lesson?

BRING LAYERS

First of all, and it might seem obvious, but bring lots of layers. This is Manitoba after all, it can rain, snow and be sunny all in the same day (we do have an indoor arena for days like that). We suggest bringing a t-shirt, light sweater and a jacket. A baseball cap, ponytail, or sunglasses can be quite useful as well. Bring sunblock for a hot day.

LONG PANTS

Long pants are to protect your legs from chaffing. Enough said right? Wear long pants. Jeans are the best option.

BOOTS OR SHOES WITH A SHORT HEEL

Most importantly, wear closed toed shoes with a heel. Why?? When you ride you slide your foot into a stirrup. The heel prevents the foot from sliding too far. It keeps you'r legs positioned correctly and it’s safer to ride in boots with a short heel. Check out the pictures to see examples.

HELMET

We supply helmets at Dustyridge but if you have a riding helmet you are welcome to bring your own. You can also purchase them at the local tack store or online.

Can't wait to hit the trails with you!

See you at the barn,
