Developing Life Skills with Horses
Kids Camp
Enjoy 5 fun-filled days of experiencing life at Dustyridge Equine Centre!

Activities include: learning about horses, developing horsemanship skills, special activities and interacting with many different animals. Heading to the creek, hanging out on the rocks or climbing and running on the round bales is an added treat.
Camps are offered during the summer months and space is limited. The day runs from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and snacks. Half days are offered for younger riders. Space is also limited.
PETTING ZOO
Interactive family farm days include pony rides or wagon rides, depending on the circumstances, hands on petting zoo with animals such as sheep, goats, alpacas, miniature horses, light horses and heavy horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens and more!
Also included in your time at Dustyridge is the opportunity to go for a walk and take in all the sights and sounds that the nature has to offer. Look for snails, frogs and fish. Climb on the rocks or sit and listen to the birds and hear the trickling water. Watch the horses roam in the grass in the pastures and "hear" the wind. Absorb all that nature has to offer.

RIDING LESSONS
We offer individual and group lessons Monday through Friday. The horse, all the tack and a helmet are provided. The student is required to have footwear with a heel.

Lessons are open to beginners as well as riders with previous experience. As much as possible, weather permitting, rides take place outdoors. Riders are paired with horses according to personalities and level of riding experience. Sessions are scheduled for approximately 1 hour. Western and English disciplines are available.
EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING
Participants take part in objectively driven exercises and learn valuable life skills with the help of our horses. The exercises facilitate life skills through positive interaction with horses. The horses’ job is to speak to the clients through their bodies to help bring about the changes the individuals need to make. Exercises are developed to encourage self-confidence and communication through validated, hands-on experiences.
ADAPTED RIDING
Dustyridge Equine Centre offers adapted riding for people that struggle with physical disabilities. Purposeful manipulation of the horses’ movement can be used as a tool to awaken different senses in the human body. When a horse walks, there are 110 multi-dimensional movements that happen every minute. These movements, are very similar to the movements of a human walking. Different activities can be incorporated for each individual as needs tend to be unique to each person. When utilizing the horses, individuals can improve their physical condition, mobility and experience an overall sense of accomplishment.
HORSE BOARDING
Dustyridge Equine Centre offers boarding for horses. Outdoor/indoor board is available. Boarders have unlimited access to both indoor and outdoor arenas, common courtesy is expected towards other barn activities. Boarders are permitted to explore all surrounding areas.
At Dustyridge Equine Centre we offer both indoor and outdoor, enclosed riding facilities. The indoor arena is insulated, heated and has the dimensions of 42 x 160. The outdoor arena is sheltered from the wind and has the dimensions of 100 x 200. Pasture and trail riding is available and this includes bush, creeks with running water and cows.
Team Building with Horses
BUSINESS TEAM
BUILDING
Horses function in an environment where every action is followed by a reaction. When participating in a session with peers and fellow co-workers, individuals are faced with the consequences of their actions, either positive or negative, and must acknowledge the issue and work collectively to resolve it and move forward. Leadership skills, either strong or weak, are brought to the forefront through the horses’ natural instinct to establish an order in the herd. While taking part in the session, with the help of the horse the group will work towards team bonding and recognizing different skills that need to be built up.
